An educational institution in Jersey City, NJ is currently seeking a Controller to join their staff on a long term contract basis. The Controller will oversee the daily operations of financial accounting related to account reconciliations, capital assets, student aid, payroll, and tax, as well as the monthly and annual closing processes and financial reporting. Additionally, the Controller will assist in supporting both internal & external audits and will manage a small staff. CPA preferred, previous Workday experience a plus. Remote opportunity! Requirements- Ability to manage, lead change and build process improvements - Professional accounting and controllership or public accounting and internal controls experience and/or Internal Audit or Controls and Compliance - Top notch analytical, organizational, and vendor management skills - Excellent communication and negotiation skills with experience in establishing trusted advisor/consultant relationships and proven ability to influence Executives and Business Decision Makers - Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or other relevant field - CPA and/or CMA preferred - Comprehensive knowledge of non-profit fund accounting - Well-founded grasp of capital assets - Command of financial reporting - Experience with month end closings - Proven knowledge of reconciliations - Strong familiarity with Monthly Financial Reporting - Student Financial Aid experience - Experience engaging with teams and providing leadership across finance teams - Excellent efficiency in office and accounting computer systems - Good understanding of ERP system is highly valued
